What if West Palm Beach had multiple mixed-use centers that galvanize a sense of place beyond Clematis Street and Worth Avenue?

Originally developed in the 1920s, Northwood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in West Palm Beach. Over the last several years there has been a resurgence to revitalize the neighborhood into a mixed-use district. 

 

Since 2005, the West Palm Beach Community Redevelopment Agency has targeted this district for revitalization and provided incentives to encourage new businesses to open and existing ones to make improvements. While local business owners took advantage of the incentives to update their properties, any ideas for future developments have remained stymied by outdated and obdurate ordinances.
